With the growing demand of Twitter accounts many users are begining to ask a lot of questions on how to send direct messages, gain more followers, and the code of ethics of retweeting an update. The term retweet better known as RT has become a normal practice for heavy users who chose to share an update, link or article of something they think is interesting.
Now that simple form of sharing has been modified by a new website that offers rewards for retweeting an updates even if you don’t find it worth sharing with your followers. The new service website is called www.Retweet.it and works on a credit system of resending your tweets for you to other users. In order to sign up you have to have 50 followers or more and you immediately earn 3 credits once you join. For every two tweets that you RT from users of the site you will get one RT in exchange.
As much as I like to share interesting updates with others I think this service sort of cheats the process and could eventually turn something that was of value to the user to Twitter spam.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been trying to save some cash during this economic crisis, downturn, whatever you call it. In fact, my friend and I were recently talking about how we need to take on window shopping as a new hobby. Well, here’s a cheap (free) way to cure our shopping blues since being broke is the new black.
Meet Kashless. If Craigslist and Twitter had a love child, this site would be it. It is the first online marketplace to solely offer postings of free items in the Seattle area. You can either post directly with Kashless or via third party listings from sites such as Craigslist or Freecycle. Using their microblogging design, you can search by categories, by neighborhood, or by distance. They make the process seamless from bookmarking options to e-mail notifications, but the unique aspect of Kashless is their ability to narrow down your product and save your search preferences. That’s target advertising (without really being advertising) at its best!

For those of you who may think Twitter is in a category of it’s own, check out the Nov 7 issue of Businessweek. A story titled Building a Better Twitter highlights the growth of the microblogging market. Twitter may have the most followers so far, but other sites that promise more features and better reliability and have a sustainable business model are popping up. Many of the new ones are content-specific. For example, Blip.fm for music, Zannel for pictures and Seesmic for videos (all claim they are complementary to Twitter instead of competitive). And then there’s Yammer that is geared to an enterprise audience. Read more…

Twitter is remaining secretive but rumors are circling around after the latest round of musical chairs cost Jack Dorsey his CEO chair. One thing is for sure though, Twitter means business. And they will tell us how next year – according to a recent article in Wired magazine.
There is still talk about an ad revenue model by analyzing content of tweets and running relevant advertising alongside the tweets. The real potential of that model will require the collaboration of third-party developers especially for smart phone clients unless Twitter wants to release its own client, of course. Because of the CAN-SPAM act, advertisers and your wireless carrier cannot, if you have not opted-in, send messages directly to your phone. However, if you willingly sign up and agree to the terms of use of a service that will occasionally advertise to you, then the twitter client can acquire geographic data from your smart phone and deliver location-based advertising directly to you in the form of tweets, or if you have the option enabled, as SMS.
