It is very interesting to find out how the digital technology is changing the way to do business everywhere in the world. I remember last year reading an article about Google in Chile. A Google manger was claiming that Chile lacked of human capital the article is in Spanish, but it basically said: “faltan técnicos calificados, y además, buenas ideas” “qualified technicians are needed and also good ideas.” He also said that Chilean university were not preparing their students for the new media business (digital media). Since then I have been paying more attention to what happens in Chile in terms of the digital media.
Chile has a well designed news paper with something that I haven’t seen before, you can read the newspaper on line in the old fashion way. You can navigate the pages of the newspaper by clicking on the right hand side and if you like to read something then you click again on the page you want to read and it brings up that page (makes it bigger for you to read)
They also have a radio station that has videos, radio A la Carte, Read more…

Lately technology seems to shrinking, we want smaller cell phones with many features, smaller computers and laptops, small projectors, plasma TVs that we can hang on our wall, smaller video cameras, smaller cars, etc.
For example the Optoma EP-PK-101-Pico Pocket Projector, it fits in your pocket and waits only 4 oz. or the Little PC with cord 2 duo and Pentium M/Celeron which is the size of your hand, yes the size of your hand! And just a few hours ago, Intel announce that they will bring out a smaller processor for ultra thin laptops.
This brings up a question of space, is it possible that we running out of space? or Is it that is pure convenience for us (humans)? I wonder if one day there will be smaller humans (men made) to save more space??? What do you think?

Yesterday in one of the most viewed programs in Mexico, “El Show de los Reyes” (means: the kings’ show, a combine version of “Dance with the Stars” and “Sing with the Stars”) a winner was crowned. Among the competitors there were amazing Mexican signers, however the winner was young boy who is very popular among the Mexican youth especially the girls. He won due to the amount of calls he received. Among some of the Mexican chats and YouTube, many of his fans confessed to have sent cellphone text messagers and sent messages to their freinds to encourage them to send text massages in favor of this young singer. The power of the Mexican youth and cellphone text message was showed yesterday at the end of the show. Mobil technology in Mexico is not only very powerful among the youth, but is also the first connection the youth have to internet, they shared videos (including YouTube videos), jokes, pictures and use it to orginize and mobilize eachother even if it’s only to make a show king!

Lately, there have been more crime incidents against UW students. The last couple of crimes have been committed during the day, both robberies. In order to fight back and make the UW District a safer place, the community needs to be involved. Neighbors, students, police, business owners and the UW have to work together. How can social media tools help to build a safety place, not only for students, but for everyone?
Maybe the creation of neighborhood platform that includes an e-mail list to the Mayor and City Council Members of the City of Seattle, the Governor, the Seattle Chief of Police and the Legislators, for the community to demand safety. Maybe the creation of a community dialog through Twitter.
Any other ideas?
