I have always believed in the Media Singularity which is the ultimate outcome of increasingly cheaper technology combined with ever expanding online distribution.

This is the first part of an animation I made for Heidi Dahmen’s class on monetizing digital media.
Our team’s business plan is based around fairy tales. I can’t say more than that because it is a working business plan that will be developed this coming year.
Terry Short, Jen Huss, Yi-Jen Wang and I set about writing and recording audio for this short podcast about four weeks ago. After recording a great audio podcast that could easily stand on it’s own I set about making the animated version.
This is my first attempt at animation. Of any sort.

The media landscape is changing, will you change with it or fall behind?
This film explores how the media landscape is changing, as the traditional media gate-keepers (print, radio and TV) are being challenged by the rise of the amateur content creator.
With the barriers to technology and distribution becoming nearly non-existent, how will traditional media compete with the masses who will produce work for free?
This film was created by the students of the MCDM program at the University of Washington using the ubiquitous Flip Video Camera, with additional footage shot with the Canon HF10 HD camcorder, edited in Final Cut Pro.

Hello everyone.
I wanted to share a post from my main blog, Master of Emulsion, as I think what is happening to the stock/assignment photographer is also happening to other ‘creatives’ out there trying to make a living, in the crowd sourced miasma of the digital revolution.

Today I’m going to tell you about Lo-fi talent. And luck. And the masses. And cheap accessible technology.
This experiment is based on this lo-fi kick I’m on.
I asked myself what would happen if I stuck a 90mm lens on my 5D and shot randomly through my car window while driving to my girlfriend’s house in West Seattle.

We have talked extensively about the aggregation of information and social networks, bringing together multiple streams of social media into a centralized browser a la Flock.
Well, what if your PC not only helped you gather info and act on it, (i.e. paying bills, buying airline tickets and checking up on friends) but did a lot of work for you while you were out LIVING YOUR LIFE.
