What twitter haters hate and what twitter lovers love.

For countless times, we hear people have questions about Twitter and say they do not understand why should they care about this trendy online social media.

From this article, “Why The Twitter Haters Are Wrong” says that UK’s Times Online wrote ” Twittering stem from a lack of identity, it’s constant update of who you are, what you are and where you are.” ” Using Twitter suggests a level of insecurity whereby, unless people recognize you, you cease to exist.” It also says that “Twitter users are young, devoid of an inner life, and feel marginalized, empty and pointless.”

Wow! I feel like someone just poured a bucket of icy water on my head.

It’s obvious that we see lots of time-wasting, unproductive twitter posts every 10 minutes, but who we want to follow and what we want to post is totally under our own control. If people keep following those so-called “worthless” twitters, it’s also their own choice, so those smart people who compains about Twitter might need to check their following list first.

Twitter haters might haven’t really taken the time to use or learn how the application can be used in some positive ways :

It’s a place to connect with people we may never meet in off-line world. It’s a tool to demostrate, to see and be seen. It’s a place there news travel faster than any other media so far.  It gives exposures to our other online social media tools. Also, it’s a place to reconnect with those we lost connection.

Of course, constently seeing the reports of others’ mundane life isn’t very interesting, but see those mundane stuff from people we care is fun and sometimes meaningful.

  1. So typical of the Twitter haters to say that Twitter use stems from lack of identity! The Twitter lovers know that Twitter is actually a great way to develop an online identity and share/further develop an already established brand.

  2. I agree with you. It’s because that the person is who we care about. It makes a big difference. Like the author said, Twittering and following the tweets can be a time-consuming task. However, it can also be an interesting thing. Sometimes when we see a funny thing and we can’t find a person to share immediately, we can tweets. By doing this, we can share it with thousands of people. Although I rarely tweets, I still like it.

I’m sick of people’s complaints about microblogging – they are too many and too uninformed.

Read the Q&A in this blogpost – from real interview, but author changed “twitter” to “telephone”

“It’s what you make it[!]” nyt. You control your feed!

Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

If you don’t like it don’t use it!

I really can’t say why Twitter lovers love Twitter. I think it’s because they are of an inferior intellect than myself. I gave Twitter a try because I was curious, nothing more. What I found was a useless medium bogged down with Telemarketers, and the next Supa RapStars. These people are to me equally repulsive and basically destroy whatever good qualities the Social Forum has to offer. It was the segregation of my own account from Celebrities that I found most offensive, however. Once again, a Special Caste of Untouchables that can interact with me, but I cannot interact with. What a crock of Scheisse! The final offense which got me to deactivate my Twitter account was the random Censorship by the Twitter Gestapo of some comments made by myself on Good Friday. This is a recognized Christian holiday, for sure. But some fail to realize that not everyone in North America is either Christian or Religious for that matter. I fall into the latter of these two catagories, and I find having to deal with Christianity being shoved down my throat as offensive as the Christian Zealots surrounding me find my comments about them. Bang, I guess the win because they’re in the Majority. Can you say Inquisition? But isn’t the point of a Social Media Forum like Twitter to make it available to all? And if a listener does not like what they hear then they simply do not have to listen. Correct? Not on Twitter. So like my forefathers did before me to the English, I shall dump Twitter into the proverbial harbor like unfairly taxed English Tea. And I hope that other freedom loving people FOLLOW ME! I’m KT Iversen (Formerly @Sheporzo), and that is what I think!
