It is very interesting to find out how the digital technology is changing the way to do business everywhere in the world. I remember last year reading an article about Google in Chile. A Google manger was claiming that Chile lacked of human capital the article is in Spanish, but it basically said: “faltan técnicos calificados, y además, buenas ideas” “qualified technicians are needed and also good ideas.” He also said that Chilean university were not preparing their students for the new media business (digital media). Since then I have been paying more attention to what happens in Chile in terms of the digital media.
Chile has a well designed news paper with something that I haven’t seen before, you can read the newspaper on line in the old fashion way. You can navigate the pages of the newspaper by clicking on the right hand side and if you like to read something then you click again on the page you want to read and it brings up that page (makes it bigger for you to read)
They also have a radio station that has videos, radio A la Carte, pod casting, blogs, social media networks like Facebook and more.
There is also another newspaper that is made out of blogs. The newspaper places the news on a blog inside the newspaper site so that the audience can participate. They have also added social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
As of last year Chile was among the ten countries that most use Facebook. Facebook Statistics
Small businesses are using Twitter and Facebook. For example a small clothing store has its Twitter account where it shares with its clients about new clothing models or colors, they share if they run out of material in a certain color, if their working on a certain size etc.
I’m really impressed to see how digital media has change the business industry, but I most impressed to see how fast Chile and other parts of Latin America are catching up with the new technology. I think that Google was wrong when they said that Chile lacks of qualified technicians and good ideas, don’t you think?

I agree with the statement that Google was wrong when they said that Chile lacks of qualified technicians and good ideas, I teach at the University in the area of radiology, as you know radiology today is digital, all the students pre and postgraduates use digital technology with no problems, in the areas of health, math, design, architecture etc., digital technology is used by students and teachers……………..(everyone loves facebook and messenger), my kids are involved in this ( more than I would like…………….) so it surprise me that Google said that……. I thougth that Google knows everything, I mean EVERYTHING
I think that we are not that bad in Chile…….
regards to the world

It is sad how big corporations like Google underestimated the talent of Chileans, but I think that now they know they made a mistake (or at least I hope they they have) The Latin American Market has so much potential! It is full of talented, creative and smart people!
