GPS Maps is one of those great functions on mobile phones we have today. Nokia mobile phone users can get the traveling information such as the popular restaurants, popular night life places, and shopping malls from the traveling guides by 13.99 US dollars. Nokia anticipates that more than 50% Nokia mobile phones will have GPS by 2010-2012. The GPS map service market will keep growing in the following years.

The GPS map services can be used in many different ways because the information on the maps can be variable. People use maps to present the environmental information for those who need the information to solve a problem. For example, people want to get the fastest or shortest driving direction from the map to save their time. They may also need the restaurant information on the map to know if there are any popular restaurants nearby and how they can go there when they want to hang out with their friends. Presenting what kind of information on the maps depends on what the users need. If the right of providing of the information can be released to general public, people can benefit from the GPS map more. For example, when a customer enters into a shopping mall, they can get the information map showing locations of different brands and washrooms, the sales information, and even the personal shopping advices from the shopping mall. Such interaction will save the users’ time and enhances the mutual communication between the mall and the customer. I anticipate such a convenient mobile phone environment in the near future.
