First Click free
Google provides First Click free function to help users find and access content that may require registration or a subscription. In other words, the main idea of First Click Free is giving a way to access the websites that contain the digital content you are interested but never know its existence and at the same time promoting the opportunity for publishers with restricted content to attract more users to visit their websites. In my view point of the First Click free, Google just offers free for the first time and sorry, you have to pay for next time. Maybe we can also think that it is the trend for the Internet in the future. Users would pay for some interesting websites while they are visiting. Does it work?? It depends on people. Do you want to pay for the websites which used to be free? Maybe some people think it is worthy, but others don’t. On the other hand, for the bloggers, it is a chance to make money from their blogs and Google helps bloggers promote their websites by First Click free function. The guidelines of the First Click free are as following:
- All users who click a Google search result to arrive at your site should be allowed to see the full text of the content they’re trying to access.
- The page displayed to all users who visit from Google must be identical to the content that is shown to Googlebot.
- If a user clicks to a multi-page article, the user must be able to view the entire article. To allow this, you could display all of the content on a single page—you would need to do this for both Googlebot and for users. Alternately, you could use cookies to make sure that a user can visit each page of a multi-page article before being asked for registration or payment.
Anyway, whether the First Click free works or not, we will see in the future.
