MCDM – Spreading the Word

We had a meeting this week at Microsoft for people who are interested in the MCDM program.

As part of this presentation we told them about our Storytelling class and the use of the Flip camera. I captured our introductions. I intentionally did not move around the room when filming. I wanted to see what the differences were when people were at different distances from the camera.

Additionally, I did not use a tripod but I did brace my elbow on the conference table. You will see camera shake here and there but for the most part, I was able to keep it pretty still. As further testament to how easy the camera is to use, I was able to hand the camera off to one of our attendees who continued shooting. The lighting was pretty poor. It was simply overhead florescent and we were into the evening. The room was quiet. We weren’t battling much envronmental noise. I broke this up into 5 chunks. They run 2 to 3 minutes each. Take a look and see what you think. Personally, I think it performed really well.

The quality of the Flip never ceases to amaze me. So long as the background noise is minimized or eliminated. The audio was pretty good even from the people furthest away from the camera. Of course there is no shame in asking our subjects to speak up either.
